The replacement process for the 2AZ-FE engine control system Engine Control Module (ECM) begins with disconnecting the negative battery cable but initialization steps may be needed after connecting it back. The first step requires removal of the front door scuff plate RH followed by a subsequent removal of the cowl side trim sub-assembly RH. The first step involves taking out the instrument panel No.1 under cover sub-assembly and the instrument panel finish lower panel RH. The next operation requires detachment of the 2 wire harness clamps while disconnecting the 5 ECM connectors until all 2 nuts securing the ECM can be removed. To complete the removal of the ECM bracket you must start by unscrewing two screws then proceed to remove ECM bracket No.2 by extracting its two screws.
