Starting the replacement requires you to withdraw the engine under cover seal No. 3 before removing the oil pan drain plug to complete the oil draining process. Install the drain plug by placing a new gasket on it then torquing it to 40 Nm (408 kgf-cm, 30 ft-lbf). Special Service Tool: 09228-07501 combined with a drain pipe cap removal enables you to uninstall the oil filter by collecting drained oil into a container. Reinstall the drain pipe cap before cleaning both the oil catch plate. The drain hose with an inside diameter of 8 mm (0.31 in.) and a length of 900 mm (35.43 in.) should be connected to the oil filter bracket before being led through the engine under cover and placed to collect oil into a container beneath. Use Special Service Tool: 09228-07501 to detach the oil filter before removing the drain hose then secure the drain pipe and clean the catch plate again. Tighten the new oil filter by hand when its rubber gasket touches the bracket while the surface remains clean. Use tool 09228-07501 from Special Service to apply another 3/4 turns and reach 18 Nm (184 kgf-cm, 13 ft-lbf). Add new engine oil into the compartment followed by reinstallation of the oil filler cap and then check for any leakage while verifying the proper oil level. Take used oil filters anddispose them at commercial disposal stations.
