2008 Toyota Corolla Power Steering Pump Parts Q&A

  • Q: How to install the Power Steering Pump on 2008 Toyota Corolla?
A: The installation process of the power steering vane pump starts with applying power steering fluid to the indicated parts. The vane pump assembly should be mounted with 2 bolts and nuts which require a torque of 37 Nm (377 kgf-cm, 27 ft-lbf) while connecting the oil pressure switch connector without any oil residue. Use Special Service Tool: 09023-12901 to connect the pressure feed tube assembly which requires a measurement of 41 Nm (418 kgf-cm, 30 ft-lbf) and employs a torque wrench with 345 mm (13.58 in.) fulcrum for precision before ensuring the tool aligns smoothly with the wrench. Fasten the pressure feed tube clamp with a bolt which requires 7.8 Nm (80 kgf-cm, 69 in-lbf) torque. The oil reservoir gets connected to pump hose No. 1 by a clip before installing the V belt between the fan and generator. After fluid addition to the power steering system the technician bleeds the system before conducting a fluid leak inspection. Under cover RH and the front wheel RH go under installation underneath the engine while torquing them to 103 Nm (1,050 kgf-cm, 76 ft-lbf).
