2007 Toyota Sienna Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to Service and Repair a Fuel Pressure Regulator on 2007 Toyota Sienna?
A: The first step is to discharge fuel system pressure before continuing with the fuel pressure regulator service. The technician should then remove the charcoal canister protector by unfastening its 6 bolts and proceed to disconnect the rear floor No. 2 crossmember brace LH along with the fuel tank filler hose cover and fuel tank assembly. There are two steps to remove the fuel tank main tube sub-assembly. First disconnect the fuel tank to filler pipe hose and next unfasten the tube joint clip then draw out the fuel main tube while maintaining protection of the quick connector from dirt entry. Use Special Service Tool: 09808-14020 (09808-01410, 09808-01420, 09808-01430) to disconnect the fuel pump gauge retainer before taking out the assembly and attached fuel suction tube set gasket. To remove the fuel suction plate sub-assembly gently pull out the 4 snap-claws using a screwdriver covered by tape. Remove the fuel pump connector before using a taped small screwdriver to pull out the fuel pump followed by taking out both the O-ring and fuel pump spacer. Remove the clip to access the fuel filter assembly after which you must disconnect the No. 1 fuel tube joint through connector removal while using a screwdriver to extract the joint without causing any harm. The first step is to detach the fuel pump harness from the No. 1 fuel tube joint followed by removing the fuel pressure regulator assembly by extracting it from the fuel suction plate after removing its clip and afterward removing the two O-rings. You should initially coat the new O-rings with a light film of gasoline or spindle oil before installing them onto the fuel pressure regulator. Then repeat this step for installing the O-rings before installing the regulator onto the No. 1 fuel tube joint and fastening it with the clip. Reinstall the fuel pump harness with the No. 1 fuel tube joint while using gasoline or spindle oil lubrication on a new O-ring. After installing a new clip to the fuel filter assembly you need to place the fuel pump spacer on the unit along with applying gasoline or spindle oil on a fresh O-ring before connecting the fuel pump. Install the fuel suction plate sub-assembly after lubricating the new O-ring while placing the fuel sender gauge assembly without any restrictions. Rephrase the procedure for the fuel suction tube assembly with pump and gauge which requires cleaning the gasket groove before installing a new gasket while aligning the assembly with the tank suction tube support then securing the fuel pump gauge retainer by tightening it to 70 to 90 Nm (714 to 918 kgf.cm 52 to 67 ft. lbs.) using Special Service Tool: 09808-14020 (09808-01410 09808-01420 09808-01430). Install the last fuel tank main tube sub-assembly following proper fuel return tube connection with tube joint clips while finishing the work with a fuel leak inspection, reattachment of the fuel tank filler hose cover and rear floor No.2 crossmember brace LH and charcoal canister protector at 5.0 Nm (51 kgf.cm, 44 in. lbs.).
