2007 Toyota Matrix Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to remove and install an A/C Condenser in a refrigeration system on 2007 Toyota Matrix?
A: The first step to remove the condenser requires draining refrigerant from the refrigeration system. A technician should disconnect the air conditioning tube assembly by removing the bolt and separating the w/receiver condenser assembly from the cooler refrigerant liquid pipe A. The technician then removes the O-ring from cooler refrigerant liquid pipe A before sealing the disconnected parts with vinyl tape to avoid moisture and foreign material entry. Secondly, disconnect the discharge hose sub-assembly by removing its bolt and taking out the sub-assembly from the w/receiver condenser assembly before you separate the O-ring and protect open spaces with vinyl tape. The w/receiver condenser assembly removal starts by removing two bolts securing radiator upper supports before proceeding to uninstall the two bolts and sliding the top radiator assembly section to the rear. The w/receiver condenser assembly must be installed with 2 bolts using 9.8 N.m (100 kgf.cm, 87 in.lbf) torque while new condenser installs need a 40 cc (1.4 fl. oz.) injection of ND-8 or equivalent compressor oil. Apply two bolts to install both radiator upper supports. Before installing the discharge hose sub-assembly start by removing vinyl tape followed by applying ND-OIL 8 or equivalent compressor oil to the new O-ring and hose joint. Then install the O-ring and use the bolt to attach the sub-assembly to the w/receiver condenser assembly but torqued only to 5.4 N.m (54 kgf.cm, 48 in.lbf). When installing the air conditioning tube assembly start by removing the vinyl tape then you should apply ND-OIL 8 or equivalent compressor oil to the new O-ring and pipe joint before installing the O-ring and finally joining the cooler refrigerant liquid pipe A to the w/receiver condenser assembly with the bolt while torquing it to 5.4 N.m (54 kgf.cm, 48 in.lbf). Conduct a refrigerant charge followed by engine heating and a refrigerant leakage check.
