2007 Toyota FJ Cruiser Starter Motor Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to remove and install the starter motor on 2007 Toyota FJ Cruiser?
A: The first step to remove the starter motor involves disconnecting the cable from the negative terminal of the battery. Begin by taking off the No. 2 engine under cover assembly through removal of 4 bolts before proceeding to remove 3 bolts that secure the No. 2 exhaust manifold stay. The earth wire harness can be separated from the cylinder block after removing its bolt. The starter assembly removal process starts with separating terminal 50 connector while also removing the nut that disconnects terminal 30 wire harness and completing the procedure with removal of two bolts to extract the starter assembly. To install the starter assembly first attach it with two bolts while maintaining a torque between 37 N.m and 377 kgf.cm and 27 ft.lbf. First connect the wire harness to terminal number 30 while torquing the nut to 5.9 N.m (60 kgf.cm, 52 in.lbf). Then attach terminal number 50 to the starter assembly. You should attach the wire harness to the cylinder block by inserting the bolt and tightening it to 13 N.m (133 kgf.cm, 10 ft.lbf). Proceed to install the 3 bolts on the No. 2 manifold stay at 40 N.m (408 kgf.cm, 30 ft.lbf) before you install the No. 2 engine under cover assembly with 4 bolts tightened to 29 N.m (296 kgf.cm, 21 ft.lbf). The negative cable installation requires tightening to 3.9 N.m (40 kgf.cm, 35 in.lbf).
