2007 Scion tC Parts Questions & Experts Answers
Q: How to service and replace the oil and oil filter on 2007 Scion tC?
A: The procedure starts by taking off the engine under cover located on the right-hand side. Engine oil drainage should begin by removing the oil drain plug which lets oil drain into a container after removing the oil filler cap. Clean the drain plug before reinstalling it with new gasket and torquing it to 40 N m (408 kgf cm, 30 ft. lbf). Remove the oil filter sub-assembly through the use of Special Service Tool: 09228-06501. The installation process starts with cleaning the oil filter mounting surface and applying fresh engine oil to the new filter gasket after which you should install it by hand just until the gasket meets the mounting seat. Special Service Tool: 09228-06501 should be used to tighten the oil filter. A torque wrench is best when sufficient space exists since torque should reach 17.2 N m (175 kgf cm, 13 ft. lbf). Otherwise, tighten it by 3/4 turn manually or use a regular wrench because insufficient space prevents torque wrench usage. Insert clean engine oil into the oil reservoir then place the oil filler cap correctly while confirming that the oil measure reaches the designated level. The last step requires engine warming followed by a leak check before you reinstall the engine under the right-hand housing.
