2007 Scion tC Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to service and repair the Clutch Slave Cylinder on 2007 Scion tC?
A: Service and repair operations on the clutch release cylinder need to start with Special Service Tool: 09023-00101 used to disconnect the flexible hose tube from the clutch release cylinder. Fluid should be collected in a container as it is removed. First remove the clutch release cylinder assembly through bolt removal of its three fasteners. During disassembly of the cylinder body you must remove the boot and push rod and piston and spring while watching for damage to the cylinder interior. The next step includes the removal of the bleeder plug cap from its corresponding bleeder plug. Reassemble the bleeder plug first with 8.4 Nm torque (85 kgf-cm, 74 inch lbs.) and then secure the bleeder plug cap followed by a new spring and applying lithium soap base glycol grease on the piston before reinstalling it into the cylinder body. After that install the push rod followed by the boot. The clutch release cylinder installation requires two bolts that should be torqued to 12 Nm (120 kgf-cm, 9 ft. lbs.) while the flexible hose tube must be secured with a bolt at 18 Nm (184 kgf-cm, 13 ft. lbs.). The clutch release cylinder should be connected to the flexible hose tube through the use of Special Service Tool: 09023-00101 while maintaining a torque of 15 Nm (155 kgf-cm, 11 ft. lbs.). The last step requires filling the brake reservoir while bleeding air from the clutch system followed by a leak-check of clutch fluid.
