2006 Toyota Prius Car Batteries Parts Q&A

  • Q: How to remove and install the 12V Car Batteries on 2006 Toyota Prius?
A: The removal process for the 12V battery requires first unlocking both washer tank cover knobs and removing the rear floor board before removing the rear deck floor box from the vehicle. The rear No. 3 floor board must have four claws detached for removal while the battery negative cable (engine wire) requires a nut to be loosened. Remove the connector cover by detaching its 3 claws and then disconnect the brake control power supply connector together with the 2 fusible link block connectors, followed by removing the wire harness from the quarter vent duct then removing the duct itself with its attached bolt and screw. Unfasten the assembly fusible link block by using a clip remover tool and removing its clip and slight loosening of the nut. First detach the bolt and nut to remove the battery hold down clamp. Then extract the grommet of the battery room ventilation hose together with the battery unit from the vehicle before finally removing the battery room ventilation hose from the battery. The installer should first connect the battery room ventilation hose to the battery while putting the battery back into the vehicle then fastening the grommet of the battery room ventilation hose. Place the battery hold down clamp back while tightening the bolt and nut to 5.4 N.m (55 kgf.cm, 48 in.lbf) before installing the fusible link block assembly with its nut and clip then tighten the nut to 6.0 N.m (61 kgf.cm, 53 in.lbf). Placing the quarter vent duct requires tightening the screw and bolt to 4.0 N.m (41 kgf.cm, 35 in.lbf). After that, you must reattach wire harnesses and fusible link connectors and brake control power supply connector before reinstalling the connector cover using its claws. Secure the 3 claws to install the connector cover while connecting the battery negative cable and tightening its nut to 6.0 N.m (61 kgf.cm, 53 in.lbf). The procedure ends by securing the rear No. 3 floor board through its 4 claws, installing the rear deck floor box and locking the 2 cover knobs on the rear No. 2 floor board. Perform the initialization procedure for systems that demand it during negative battery terminal cable replacement and reconnection.
