- Q: How to overhaul the A/C Switch assembly on 2006 Toyota Matrix?A: The overhaul process starts with disconnecting the instrument cluster finish panel sub-assembly center along with the combination switch assembly before removing the air conditioning control assembly. Screwdriver operations should open the clamp's claw to detach the defroster damper control cable while taking care to protect the cable wire from being bent. Adding tape to the screwdriver ensures proper safety. After pushing aside the fitting claws the air conditioning control assembly becomes accessible and the airmix damper control cable can be separated while you maintain careful treatment of the cable wire. Complete the connector disconnection before removing the air conditioning control assembly together with its 2 air conditioning control bulbs. The installation includes connecting the inner airmix damper control cable end to the heater control lever followed by attaching the outer cable end to the cable clamp with a double-check on correct heater knob operation at both MAX settings. COOL and MAX. HOT without recoil operation should be maintained and the outer cable needs to stay engaged when pulling. The air conditioning control assembly insertion needs its 2 fitting claws to enter the instrument panel sub-assembly lower hole while the inner defroster damper control cable end attaches to the heater control lever and the outer cable should mount to the cable clamp without damaging the cable wire.
