2006 Scion xA Yaw Sensor Parts Q&A

  • Q: How to service and repair the Yaw Sensor on 2006 Scion xA?
A: The procedure for yaw rate sensor servicing and repairs includes disconnecting the negative battery cable and waiting 90 seconds to stop the activation of Air Bags and seat belt pretensioners before starting work. The first step requires removing the rear console box assembly after disconnecting the yaw rate sensor connector followed by unfastening the two bolts that hold the sensor in place. When installing the yaw rate sensor users must check it remains undamaged during placement and avoid contamination of the sensor bracket area by foreign objects between the yaw rate sensor bracket and vehicle body. Screw the yaw rate sensor into position with the two bolts while tightening them to 14 N.m (143 kgf.cm, 10 ft.lbf) before reattaching its connector. Refasten the rear console box assembly while connecting the negative battery cable. First initialize systems if necessary and finish by calibrating the yaw rate sensor zero point. The VSC sensor signal needs to be checked after completing all other steps.
