2006 Scion xA Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to service and repair the ABS Control Module for Antilock Brakes on 2006 Scion xA?
A: Services and repairs of the Hydraulic Control Assembly for Antilock Brakes should begin by disconnecting the negative battery cable then allowing 90 seconds of waiting before continuing due to Air Bag and seat belt pretensioner activation prevention. The service requires removing all brake fluid while cleaning painted components with any fluid contact. Service technicians must start by releasing the latch of the actuator connector to disconnect it then they should use Special Service Tool: 09023-00101 to detach the 6 brake lines from the brake actuator before marking or tagging each line for returning them to their original positions. The process to separate the brake actuator and bracket begins by removing three bolts then continuing with removing two nuts. Begin the installation process by connecting the brake actuator to the bracket with 2 nuts then torque them to 5.4 N.m (55 kgf.cm, 48 in.lbf). Next mount the brake actuator with bracket to the vehicle using 3 bolts whose final torque value stands at 19 N.m (194 kgf.cm, 14 ft.lbf). Install the brake actuator lines at their designated positions on the actuator unit by using a torque wrench having a 30 cm (11.81 in.) length with a fulcrum of 15 N.m (155 kgf.cm, 11 ft.lbf) torque unless using the Special Service Tool or 14 N.m (143 kgf.cm, 10 ft.lbf) torque with its assistance. After connection of the brake actuator connector place brake fluid in the reservoir while performing brake fluid bleeding on the brake master cylinder brake line and brake actuator through the VSC system. Clear any brake fluid leakage from the reservoir then you should check its level before reattaching the cable to the battery terminal. After reattaching the negative battery terminal it is necessary to check the brake actuator through the intelligent tester while completing an initialization sequence because this process affects certain system functionality.
