2005 Toyota RAV4 Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to service and repair the Clutch Slave Cylinder on 2005 Toyota RAV4?
A: Start the clutch release cylinder service by disconnecting the clutch line through two bolt removal along with the release cylinder heat insulator followed by Special Service Tool: 09023-00101 to separate the clutch line while collecting fluid in a receptacle. You should pull out the release cylinder after unbolt the two fasteners. Service the clutch release cylinder by first removing the boot with its push rod then taking out both the boot and push rod from the cylinder after which use compressed air to eliminate the piston and spring from the cylinder while keeping the piston stabilized by waste cloth to stop its exit during the operation. The piston needs to be coated with lithium soap base glycol grease before inserting the piston and spring into the cylinder followed by attaching the push rod to the boot while securing it to the cylinder. Reinstall the release cylinder with its 2 bolts while torquing them to 12 Nm (120 kgf-cm, 9 ft. lbs.) then attach the clutch line to the release cylinder by using Special Service Tool: 09023-10100 for 14 Nm (143 kgf-cm, 10 ft. lbs.) tool torque or 15 Nm (155 kgf-cm, 11 ft. lbs.) without the tool using a torque wrench with 30 cm (11.81 inch) fulcrum length. The last step includes the installation of both bolts and the release cylinder heat insulator while torquing them to 12 Nm (120 kgf-cm, 9 ft. lbs.). Subsequently, add brake fluid to the reservoir and perform a clutch system bleed before checking for any fluid leakage.
