2005 Toyota Prius Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to replace the steering angle sensor on 2005 Toyota Prius?
A: The process starts by disconnecting the battery negative terminal. Proceed by removing steering wheel cover lower No.2 and lower No.3 then the horn button assembly while using Special Service Tool: 09950-50013 along with its listed tools (09951-05010, 09952-05010, 09953-05020, 09954-05021). Removing the tilt lever bracket and steering column cover and spiral cable sub-assembly enables access to the steering sensor which can be unclamped by opening its six claws. The new steering sensor can be attached to the spiral cable through the process of aligning its locating pins to the 6 claw clamp system. Reinstall the spiral cable sub-assembly after centering it using the front wheels in a straight ahead position. The next steps include applying the steering column cover followed by the tilt lever bracket then the steering wheel assembly and the horn button assembly which should be checked after installation. End your process by reconnecting the negative cable and initiating initialization tests followed by SRS warning light inspection.
