2005 Toyota Matrix Parts Questions & Experts Answers
Q: How to replace the rear Car Speakers assembly on 2005 Toyota Matrix?
A: Starting the process requires you to eliminate these components in this sequence: rear door pull handle, then the rear door window regulator handle assembly without power windows, and lastly the rear door trim board sub-assembly LH. Use a drill of less than 4 mm (0.16 in.) diameter to drill out the three rivet heads by aligning the drill vertically so it does not damage the rivet hole. Cut the rivet flanges carefully while the drill is in position then disconnect the connector from the rear speaker assembly before drilling. Drilling should continue beyond the cutting of rivets to eliminate all remaining fragments while taking caution due to their possible heat. You should eliminate the drilled rivets and dust from inside the rear door panel by using a vacuum cleaner right after drilling. Apply a hand riveter or an air riveter to fix the rear speaker assembly onto the rear door panel by following its installation order shown in the illustration with three new strike rivets. The riveter must never be handled by prizing its design as this action can cause damage to the tool. Do not angle the riveter or disconnect rivets from the material when you handle it. Finally, reconnect the connector.
