2005 Toyota Highlander Starter Motor Parts Q&A

  • Q: How to replace the starter motor on 2005 Toyota Highlander?
A: The first step to replace a starter motor involves checking the correct positioning of the connector and accessories. The first step involves battery tray and battery removal before starting the starter assembly removal phase which includes disconnecting the starter connector followed by opening the terminal cap to loosen the nut that holds the starter wire and then unfastening the two bolts securing the starter. The starter positioning requires two bolts tightened at 37 Nm (377 kgf.cm, 27 ft.lbf) torque along with the starter wire nut secured at 9.8 Nm (100 kgf.cm, 7 ft.lbf) before connecting the starter connector. Reattach the battery tray before installing the battery and tighten the clamp bolt and nut with 5.5 Nm torque (56 kgf.cm, 49 in.lbf) and tighten the battery cables at the terminals to 3.5 Nm (36 kgf.cm, 31 in.lbf).
