2005 Toyota Avalon Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to replace the radiator assembly on 2005 Toyota Avalon?
A: The radiator replacement process (2GR-FE) begins by draining engine coolant and following up with battery removal plus removal of both air cleaner inlets (No.1 and No.2). The radiator assembly requires detachment of its reserve tank hose as well as each connection for the radiator inlet and outlet and both Oil cooler tubes no. 1 and no. 2 respectively. Begin radiator support upper removal by removing the hood lock nut cap followed by disconnecting the hood lock assembly with 3 bolts and then separating the upper support through the removal of 5 bolts. You must disconnect the fan motor connector before removing 4 bolts to split the condenser assembly from the radiator assembly after which you should withdrawal the radiator assembly from the car body. The installation process begins by taking out the 2 radiator support cushions as well as the 2 radiator support lowers from the radiator assembly. The fan assembly with its motor can be lifted from the radiator when three snap fits have been disassembled. The installation requires repositioning the fan assembly along with motor onto the radiator while guidance at both bottom sections matches with 3 top snap fits alignment. Insert the radiator support lowers and cushions to the radiator assembly and reinstall the radiator into the body while attaching the condenser assembly with 4 bolts tightened to 5.4 Nm (55 kgf-cm, 48 inch lbs.). Reinstall the fan motor connector then use 5 bolts to fasten the radiator support upper with a torque of 7.0 Nm (71 kgf-cm, 62 inch lbs.), complete the installation by attaching the hood lock assembly with a torque of 8.0 Nm (82 kgf-cm, 71 inch lbs.) before putting on the hood lock nut cap. These installation steps include attaching tubes No.1 from the oil cooler to the radiator assembly and then placing the radiator hose outlet and inlet followed by the reserve tank hose. Conclude the procedure with the replacement of battery and air cleaner inlets and engine coolant addition followed by leak inspection.
