How to replace the Ignition Switch or starter switch assembly on 2005 Scion tC?

Start the replacement process of the ignition or starter switch assembly (2AZ-FE) by disconnecting the battery negative terminal. The ignition or starter switch assembly requires removal after first disconnecting its connectors for the ignition switch and unlock warning switch followed by removing the band tie then separating the claw fitting using a small screwdriver and finishing by removing two screws for the ignition switch and lock stopper screw. Installation of this component begins with screwing down the lock stopper before adding the ignition switch through two screws and aligning claw placement for the unlock warning switch connector and finally reattaching the band tie before connecting the unlock warning switch connector and the ignition switch connector. To finish the installation process first reinstall the steering column cover followed by the reconnection of the battery negative terminal at a torque of 5.4 N.m (55 kgf.cm, 48 in.lbf).
