2004 Toyota Solara Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to replace the windshield wiper motor assembly on 2004 Toyota Solara?
A: The first step to replace the windshield wiper motor assembly is removing the windshield wiper arm cover through claw disengagement. You must unfasten the nut before extracting both the front wiper arm and blade assembly LH and RH. Start by taking off the cowl top ventilator louver sub-assembly through a process of removing both clips and unfastening the twelve claws. Separate the connector while removing four bolts to extract the windshield wiper motor assembly with its link. A screwdriver enables removal of the rod at the crank arm pivot of the windshield wiper motor assembly through disconnecting the rod with a screwdriver tip that should be taped to prevent damage from occurring. After disconnection, remove the 3 bolts needed to detach the windshield wiper motor assembly. Fasten the windshield wiper motor assembly using its 3 bolts while torquing them up to 5.4 Nm (55 kgf.cm, 47 in.lbf). Before rod installation, put MP grease on the crank arm pivot. The 4 bolts must be used to install the windshield wiper motor & link assembly which requires torques to 7.0 Nm (71 kgf.cm, 62 in.lbf) while reattaching the connector. At the automatic stop position use the wiper to stop the windshield wiper motor assembly before using a wire brush to clean the wiper arm serrations and wiper pivot serration. Then attach the front wiper arm & blade assembly RH with a nut that requires 20 Nm (204 kgf.cm, 15 ft.lbf) torque when manually holding the arm hinge for proper nut seating. Follow this step by cleaning the wiper arm serrations and wiper pivot serration prior to front wiper arm & blade assembly LH installation with a nut application while holding the arm hinge by hand. Torque to 20 Nm (204 kgf.cm, 15 ft.lbf) as the final step.
