2004 Toyota Solara Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to service and repair the Clutch Slave Cylinder on 2004 Toyota Solara?
A: Start by disconnecting the clutch release cylinder through bolt removal of the flexible hose tube and tube clamp bracket before using Special Service Tool: 09023-00100 to remove 2 flexible hose tubes while directing fluid into a container. Begin by detaching the clutch accumulator assembly when you remove its bolt along with 2 nuts then move on to remove the clutch release cylinder assembly by unscrewing the 2 bolts. The removal process begins with the clutch release cylinder kit boot and push rod and piston separation from the cylinder body structure taking caution not to harm the inner parts and following with spring and bleeder plug cap removal. The bleeder plug for the release cylinder needs to be torqued to 8.4 Nm (85 kgf-cm, 74 inch lbs.). The clutch release cylinder kit installation requires the reinstallation of the bleeder plug cap followed by addition of the new spring and lithium soap base glycol grease coating of the piston before slow cautious reinstallation of the piston alongside push rod and boot onto the cylinder body. Install the clutch release cylinder assembly while tightening two bolts to 12 Nm (120 kgf-cm, 9 ft. lbs.) before remounting the clutch accumulator assembly with two nuts and a bolt which should be torqued to 12 Nm (120 kgf-cm, 9 ft. lbs.). Connect the clutch release cylinder to flexible hose tubes through the use of Special Service Tool: 09023-00100 while torquing them to 15 Nm (155 kgf-cm, 11 ft. lbs.). Following this, install the tube clamp bracket along with bolt and complete installation with a torque of 12 Nm (120 kgf-cm, 9 ft. lbs.). As the final step install clutch fluid in the reservoir tank and conduct the clutch system bleeding then inspect for leaks and confirm the correct fluid amount in the tank.
