2004 Toyota Prius Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to replace the NO.2 RADIATOR ASSY on 2004 Toyota Prius?
A: The procedure to replace the NO.2 RADIATOR ASSY (1NZ-FXE) starts with removing the FAN ASSY W/MOTOR before proceeding to detach the NO.2 RADIATOR ASSY using 3 bolts from the radiator support upper RH and 3 bolts from the radiator support upper LH, 3 bolts from the radiator support lower RH and 3 bolts from the radiator support lower LH, which allows for removal of radiator assembly No. 2 from the vehicle. Special Service Tool: 09817-33190 allows for the removal of the radiator fan temperature switch after which you should install the replacement switch with a torque of 7.0 Nm (71 kgf-cm, 62 inch lbs.). Secure the radiator assembly No. 2 by placing 3 lower LH bolts at 5.0 Nm (51 kgf-cm, 44 inch lbs.) for bolt A alongside 3.9 Nm (40 kgf-cm, 35 inch lbs.) for bolt B. Then, install the lower RH bolts with equivalent torque requirements before completing the installation with the radiator support lower LH and lower RH bolts. The radiator support upper bolts LH and RH should be torqued twice with exact values of 3.9 Nm (40 kgf-cm, 35 inch lbs.) for the LH and 3.9 Nm (40 kgf-cm, 35 inch lbs.) for the RH. The FAN ASSY W/MOTOR needs to be installed as the final step of the installation procedure.
