2004 Toyota Celica ABS Control Module Parts Q&A

  • Q: How to service the ABS Control Module for Antilock Brakes on 2004 Toyota Celica?
A: The service of the Anti-lock Braking System Hydraulic Control Assembly begins with deleting the battery assembly together with its securing clamp and mounting tray. The service process begins by severing the connections between the master cylinder and ECM bracket by first detaching the engine room duct afterward removing the 3 bolts to slide the ECM out of the way and dislodging the 2 harness clamps in combination with the bolt and 2 nuts that secure the ECM bracket while applying 19 Nm (195 kgf-cm, 14 ft. lbs.) torque. The release bar must be used to disconnect the ABS actuator connector followed by removal of the 6 brake lines with Special Service Tool: 09023-00100 at 15 Nm (155 kgf-cm, 11 ft. lbs.). A note or tags should be used to record the brake line positions since they will help in reassembly. Remove the ABS actuator assembly by first unscrewing the bolt and nut while torquing to 19 Nm (195 kgf-cm, 14 ft. lbs.), then detach the actuator from the actuator bracket by torquing the 2 nuts to 5.4 Nm (55 kgf-cm, 48 inch lbs.). The reverse order of the removal procedure should be used for installation followed by brake fluid addition to the reservoir and system bleeding to check for any fluid leakage.
