2003 Toyota Tundra Shock Absorber Parts Q&A
Q: How to service and repair the shock absorber on 2003 Toyota Tundra?
A: Service and maintenance of the shock absorber starts with disconnecting the front wheel. The shock absorber needs to be disassembled from the lower suspension arm by first removing its lower side set nut along with washer while avoiding removing the bolt. You should secure the bolt's head with vinyl tape to defend the drive shaft boot. After this, you can detach the shock absorber by lowering the lower suspension arm with a pry tool. The shock absorber needs the coil spring with it while removing it so begin by unstalling the three nuts. The installation procedure begins with attaching the shock absorber's upper part to the chassis frame through torque application of 3 nuts to 64 Nm (650 kgf-cm, 47 ft. lbs.). Connect the lower shock absorber part to the lower suspension arm by using the bolt together with a washer and tightening the nut to 135 Nm (1,400 kgf-cm, 100 ft. lbs.). As a concluding step reinstall the front wheel while torquing it to 110 Nm (1,150 kgf-cm, 83 ft. lbs.).
