2003 Toyota Echo Radiator Parts Q&A

  • Q: How to remove and install a radiator on 2003 Toyota Echo?
A: Draining engine coolant must be the first step before you remove engine under covers. The next step is to disconnect the electric cooling fan connector, horn connector, upper radiator hose, lower radiator hose, radiator reservoir hose while also removing the 2 oil cooler hoses when dealing with automatic transmissions. Begin by removing two clips and the radiator cover followed by unscrewing seven (on vehicles without A/C) to nine (with A/C) bolts from the upper radiator supports to extract the radiator assembly and its two radiator support cushions together with grommets. You should disconnect the electric cooling fan from the radiator by unscrewing its 3 assembly bolts. Position the cooling fan on the radiator through its 3 bolts before torquing them to 7.5 Nm (80 kgf-cm, 66 inch lbs.). Append the 2 radiator support cushions and grommets to the radiator before connecting the grommets to body brackets then fasten upper radiator supports with 7 bolts if A/C is absent or utilize 9 bolts when A/C is present. Connect all hoses for the radiator including the upper and lower hoses together with the radiator reservoir hose and also for automatic transmissions connect the two oil cooler hoses with their respective pipes. Also secure the radiator cover using 2 clips before reconnecting the horn connector along with the electric cooling fan connector. Insert the engine under the engine covers before filling the system with engine coolant as you start the engine to check the presence of leaks.
