2003 Toyota 4Runner ABS Control Module Parts Q&A

  • Q: How to replace the ABS Control Module on 2003 Toyota 4Runner?
A: The first step to replace the skid control ECU assy requires removing the instrument panel finish plate followed by removing the instrument panel finish panel sub-assy lower and finally removing the instrument panel lower LH and instrument panel junction block assy with bolt and 2 nuts until you can move them aside. First disconnect the 4 ABS control module connectors, take off the 2 nuts holding the control ECU assy into place and remove the skid control buzzer connector before extracting the skid control buzzer assy from the ABS control module. To install first connect the skid control buzzer to the ABS control module followed by connecting the skid control buzzer connector before using 2 nuts to fasten and torquing to 5.0 Nm (51 kgf-cm, 44 inch lbs.) while reconnecting the 4 ABS control module connectors. The installation process requires the instrument panel junction block assy to be secured with the bolt and 2 nuts followed by installing the instrument panel lower LH and the instrument panel finish panel sub-assy lower and ending with the instrument panel finish plate. Check the signal of VSC sensor as the final step.
