2002 Toyota Tundra Brake Line Parts Q&A

  • Q: How to service and repair a brake line on 2002 Toyota Tundra?
A: A technician must start brake hose/line service and repair by disconnecting the front wheel then fastening the disc with hub nuts to reach 113 Nm of torque (1,150 kgf-cm, 83 ft lbs.). The brake line requires Special Service Tool: 09023-00100 during disconnection and should have a torque of 15 Nm (155 kgf-cm, 11 ft. lbs.) while catching brake fluid in a container. Detach the caliper after you remove its 2 mounting bolts which need a torque setting of 123 Nm (1,250 kgf-cm, 90 ft. lbs.). Proceed with the removal of the clip after taking out the 2 pins alongside the anti-rattle spring then follow up by taking out the 2 pads followed by 4 anti-squeal shims. You can reuse the anti-rattle spring alongside the clip after inspecting them for appropriate spring rebound alongside the absence of deformation, cracks and wear and ensuring their clean condition from rust, dirt and foreign objects. The installation process begins by using the reverse steps of removal then requires addition of brake fluid to the reservoir followed by brake system bleeding with leak inspection.
