2002 Toyota Echo Clutch Slave Cylinder Parts Q&A

  • Q: How to service and repair the Clutch Slave Cylinder on 2002 Toyota Echo?
A: The Clutch Slave Cylinder service requires users first to remove clutch line fluid with Special Service Tool: 09023-00100 into a catch container. The two bolts need removal before extracting the release cylinder. The disassembly process requires you to remove the bleeder plug before you take out the union bolt and two gaskets and the union. Use compressed air to help remove the piston with spring from the push rod boot when service and repair Clutch Slave Cylinder but catch the piston before it jumps away by holding it with waste cloth while avoiding brake fluid splash. Put lithium soap base glycol grease on the piston before you put the piston together with its spring inside the cylinder followed by installing the boot with the push rod. The work starts with placing the union bolt and installing two new gaskets on it while torquing at 24.5 Nm (250 kgf-cm, 18 ft. lbs.). Subsequently, install the bleeder plug by torquing it to 8.4 Nm (85 kgf-cm, 74 inch lbs.). The first step of installation involves securing the release cylinder using two bolts torque to 12 Nm then using Special Service Tool: 09023-00100 to connect the clutch line while torqueing to 15 Nm. Complete the clutch reservoir with brake fluid before bleeding the clutch system and detecting any fluid leakage.
