How to replace the Liftgate Lift Support on 2002 Toyota 4Runner?

In order to replace the trunk or lift gate shock/support, the back door stay is removed by unscrewing the bolts and holding the door. Pierce a hole in the stay to release gas in case it is required prior to disposal. Gently and carefully, without breakage, and screw the new stay in place using bolts.
