2001 Toyota Sequoia Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to service and repair fuel injectors on 2001 Toyota Sequoia?
A: You should start servicing and repairing fuel injectors by initially taking off the throttle body cover along with intake air connector and fuel pressure pulsation damper while putting a shop towel beneath the delivery pipe prior to slow pulsation damper loosening. The service starts with disconnecting the accelerator cable at the engine then removing two nuts for the accelerator cable bracket while removing the PCV hose from the PCV valve and disconnecting the VSV for EVAP by deleting its connector and hose before removing the accelerator cable clamp. Begin by removing the throttle body cover bracket bolt then detach engine wires linked to the No.1 engine hanger and wire bracket and afterward remove delivery pipes with injectors making sure to prevent injector drops. The repair process requires the removal of the fuel return pipe clamp bolt followed by the bolt, two union bolts, four gaskets and front fuel pipe before disconnecting eight injector connectors and then taking out the four manifold nuts and two delivery pipes along with eight injectors, four spacers, and eight insulators while extracting the O-ring and grommet from each unit. Each injector needs a new grommet installation followed by gasoline application to new O-rings and a gradual injector-delivery pipe insertion maintaining injector rotation. Begin by directing the injector connectors outward before placing both spacers and new insulators onto the intake manifold. Finally, install the delivery pipes along with injector assemblies onto the lower intake manifold while temporarily fastening them with four nuts. You should mount the front fuel pipe along with its bolt and four new gaskets and two union bolts while tightening them to 39 N.m for the union bolts and 7.5 N.m for the bolt. The drain tube clamp must be secured to the LH delivery pipe with a torque of 7.5 N.m before checking that the injectors can rotate freely by changing O-rings when needed. After that, tighten the four nuts to 18 N.m and connect the eight injector connectors. Fasten two wire clamps onto RH delivery pipe brackets and link them to Engine Hanger Wire Bracket No.1 before adding engine wire protectors through two bolts. The PCV hose assembly should be installed onto the PCV valve then the accelerator cable clamp together with VSV for EVAP needs to be mounted on the upper intake manifold where the EVAP hose and VSV connector join. A bolt attaches the throttle body cover bracket before two nuts secure the accelerator cable bracket at 18 N.m torque setting. Finally, the engine gets the accelerator cable and both the fuel pressure pulsation damper and intake air connector and throttle body cover need reinstallation.
