2001 Toyota Sequoia Parts Questions & Experts Answers
Q: How Should You Properly Deploy an Air Bag Before Scrapping a Vehicle on 2001 Toyota Sequoia?
A: Before scrapping a vehicle with SRS or handling its side Air Bag assembly always follow the procedure that requires using Service Tool 09082-00700 (SRS Air Bag Deployment Tool) for Air Bag deployment. The deployment procedure should happen outside the vehicle space where it cannot disturb residential areas so maintain at least a 10 m (33 ft) distance from the Air Bag assembly. Before engaging the activation switch on the Special Service Tool the user must verify that all people are outside the vehicle and at least 10 meters away from the area. Before deployment prepare the power source battery while checking the functionality of the Special Service Tool along with disconnecting the side Air Bag connector without harming the wire harness then connect the Special Service Tool to the Air Bag connector without locking the secondary lock. First place the tool 10 meters away from the vehicle then close all doors and windows and connect the red clip to the battery positive (+) terminal while connecting the black clip to the negative (-) terminal. During the side Air Bag assembly deployment phase it stays extremely hot for 30 minutes minimum therefore use gloves and safety eyewear before touching it and apply no water to the dispersed Air Bag assembly. Final handwashing must involve water and the Air Bag needs preliminary deployment before you can remove the vehicle with installed side Air Bag assemblies. The deployment of the Air Bag takes place alongside the illumination of the LED on the Special Service Tool activation switch.
