- Q: How to service and repair the Radiator Cooling Fan Motor on 2001 Toyota Corolla?A: The first step for servicing the Radiator Cooling Fan Motor starts with draining engine coolant followed by upper radiator hose detachment from the radiator. The cooling fan requires both removing its wire connection and the removal of all five securing bolts. The fan removal process starts by detoxifying the nut before disconnecting the wire and connector holder from the fan shroud so you can remove the 3 screws to extract the fan motor. The fan motor installation requires screwing the 3 bolts onto the fan shroud then torqueing the screws to 2.65 Nm (27 kgf-cm, 23 inch lbs.) when A/C is present or 3.98 Nm (41 kgf-cm, 35 inch lbs.) without A/C before connecting the wire and connector holder to the fan shroud. Install the fan using the nut according to the specifications of 6.43 Nm (66 kgf-cm, 57 inch lbs.). Use 5 mounting bolts to fix the cooling fan then apply torque of 6 Nm (60 kgf-cm, 53 inch lbs.) before reconnecting the cooling fan connector and reinstalling the upper radiator hose to the radiator and filling the system with engine coolant before starting the engine for leak inspection.
