- Q: How to Service and Repair the Throttle Cable on 2000 Toyota Tacoma?A: The process of servicing a throttle cable/linkage starts with disconnecting the throttle cable from the throttle linkage and the engine compartment cable clamps before removing the bolt that holds the cable clamp to the torque converter clutch housing. Start the service by removing both the valve body and throttle cable through the retaining bolt extraction and autonomous cable extraction. A new throttle cable requires bending into a 200 mm (7.87 inch) radius then light inner cable tension until resistance occurs and maintaining this position until staking the stopper 0.8 - 1.5 mm (0.031 - 0.059 inch) from the outer cable end. After placing a new O-ring on the throttle cable users must pull the cable before securing it with the retaining bolt and torquing it to 10 Nm (100 kgf-cm, 7 kgf-cm). You will now replace the valve body before connecting the throttle cable to the engine process and installing the drain plug with correct torque of 20 Nm (205 kgf-cm, 15 ft. lbs.). Filling ATF occurs last alongside the fluids level check before performing throttle cable adjustment.
