2000 Toyota Land Cruiser Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to service and repair the fuel injector on 2000 Toyota Land Cruiser?
A: Repairing and servicing the fuel injector requires first removing the V-bank cover together with the intake air connector and fuel pressure pulsation damper but always place a shop towel beneath the delivery pipe while you gently loosen the pulsation damper. Follow the engine established procedures to disconnect the accelerator cable from its position before removing the two nuts as well as the accelerator cable bracket. The upper intake manifold engine wire protector becomes available after detaching the PCV hose from the PCV valve, disconnection of VSV for EVAP and removing the accelerator cable clamp and taking off the No.1, No.2 and No.3 V-bank cover brackets, followed by removing the two bolts to disconnect the engine wire protector. Detach the engine wire at the RH delivery pipe using two wire clamps removal. When removing the delivery pipes and injectors, be cautious not to drop the injectors and avoid putting any hung load on them; remove the bolt holding the clamp on the fuel return pipe to the LH delivery pipe, then remove the bolt, two union bolts, four gaskets, and front fuel pipe, followed by disconnecting the eight injector connectors and removing the four nuts holding the delivery pipes to the lower intake manifold, ultimately taking out the two delivery pipes, eight injectors, four spacers, and eight insulators, along with the O-ring and grommet from each injector. Installation requires new grommets on each injector as well as gasoline on new O-rings before mounting with injector turning to insert each pipe. Start by opening the injector connectors before adding the four spacers and eight new insulators to the intake manifold and setting the two delivery pipes and injector assemblies onto the lower intake manifold with temporary installation of four nuts. Connect the front fuel pipe along with its bolt, four new gaskets and two union bolts while torquing the union bolts to 39 Nm (400 kg.cm, 29 ft.lb) and the bolt to 7.5 Nm (80 kg.cm, 66 in.lb). Fasten the clamp bolt to the fuel return pipe while it faces the LH delivery pipe then apply torque of 7.5 Nm (80 kg.cm, 66 in.lb). Verify the injectors' smooth rotation before replacing old O-rings if needed. Securely tighten the delivery pipes to lower intake manifold using 18 Nm (185 kg.cm) torque while connecting each of the eight injector connectors. The engine wire installation process begins with clamping down the two wire clamps to the LH delivery pipe before attaching the engine wire clamp to the No.1 engine hanger. Afterward, install the engine wire protector with its two bolts. Reconnect the PCV hose to the PCV valve and attach the VSV for EVAP to the upper intake manifold. Begin by installing the accelerator cable clamp before placing the No.1 No.2 and No.3 V-bank cover brackets and attaching the accelerator cable bracket with two nuts that you will torque to 18 Nm (185 kg.cm, 13 ft.lb). Reconnect the accelerator cable to its engine location. Place the fuel pressure pulsation damper with the intake air connector and V-bank cover last.
