2000 Toyota Echo Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to service and repair the Air Bag Control Module on 2000 Toyota Echo?
A: Start the service and repair of the Air Bag Control Module by taking out both the panel and the Air Bag sensor assembly. While holding the sensor assembly in position uninstall its 4 screws which require a Torx wrench (T40, Part No. 09042-00020 or locally manufactured tool) by disconnecting the Air Bag sensor assembly connectors. Installation must use new SRS components and it is forbidden to use any Air Bag sensor assembly that participated in a collision or requires repairs. After installing the Air Bag sensor assembly with the Torx wrench through 4 screws, finalize the installation with 20 Nm (205 kg.cm, 15 ft.lb) torque before connecting Air Bag sensor connectors. Perform torque checks on the sensor assembly before replacing it with a new one when you observe either dropping damage or physical damage. Bohemian engineers must check SRS wires for clearance from other automobile components so wires stay clear while performing the panel repair shake the sensor twice to confirm no tube movement takes place before reinstallation.
