2000 Toyota Avalon Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to service and repair the brake fluid pump on 2000 Toyota Avalon?
A: Service and repair operations for the brake fluid pump start with removing the air cleaner case and its hose then continuing with the master cylinder uninstallation. First disconnect the precharge pump connector before removing the precharge pump assembly when you loosen its 3 bolts to a torque spec of 19 Nm (195 kgf-cm, 14 ft. lbs.). Service Tool: 09751-36011 should disconnect the two brake lines from the precharge pump while following torque values of 15 Nm for the 10 mm nut and 20 Nm for the 12 mm nut. The precharge pump removal begins by disconnecting two nuts and bolts attached to the pump bracket which require torques of 13 Nm (130 kgf-cm, 9 ft. lbs.) and 8.0 Nm (82 kgf-cm, 71 inch lbs.). After separating these fasteners the 2 holders, 2 collars, 2 washers and 4 cushions must be detached. Proceed with great caution while removing the master cylinder pressure sensor and its accompanying O-ring and spacer by placing the precharge pump in a vise supported with cloth material before using a 30 mm deeper socket wrench at 81 Nm (830 kgf-cm, 60 ft. lbs.) torque. Install the master cylinder pressure sensor according to the reversal of removal steps while filling the brake reservoir and bleeding the system for fluid leak detection.
