The repair starts with supporting the rear axle beam using a jack before uninstalling two nuts and the bolt and finally removing the washer and nut and shock absorber. When working on the shock absorber assembly rear LH users should employ Special Service Tool: 09727-30021 to compress the coil spring but they should avoid using an impact wrench to prevent damage to the tool. The 6 mm hexagon wrench provides support for the piston rod while users remove the nut to extract successively the support plate and cushion followed by the spring bracket then both upper insulator and suspension support and spring bumper and coil spring. Check the shock absorber working by performing rod compression and extension movements while monitoring resistance and sounds; replace it if abnormalities appear. Use Special Service Tool: 09727-30021 to re-compress the coil spring and then insert the spring into the shock absorber before placing its lower end within the spring lower seat gap. Start by installing the spring bumper followed by the suspension support and upper insulator before correctly placing the spring bracket. Use Special Service Tool: 09727-30021 to compress the coil spring then insert the spring into the shock absorber but keep the piston rod fixed with a 6 mm hexagon wrench until the torque reaches 56 Nm (571 kgf-cm, 41 ft. lbs.). Install all rear shock absorber with coil spring components by starting with nut and washer temporary clamp followed by 2 nuts and bolt torque to 80 Nm (816 kgf-cm, 59 ft. lbs.). Implement suspension stabilization by placing the rear wheel then lowering the vehicle before bouncing it several times. Monitor the rear wheel alignment after properly tightening the nut of the rear shock absorber with coil spring to 80 Nm (816 kgf-cm, 59 ft. lbs.). Before discarding the shock absorber assembly rear LH you need to drill a hole in the cylinder using a suitable drill while ensuring a safe evacuation of interior gas contents while being careful about potential plastic chips.

Install the rear wheel, lower the vehicle, and bounce it up and down several times.

Support the rear axle beam with a jack.

Disconnect the front flexible hose, removing the bolt and disconnecting front flexible hose No.1 and speed sensor front LH if equipped with ABS, or just the front flexible hose if not.

Apply MP grease No.2 to the suspension support sub-assembly LH, avoiding contact with the rubber surface.
