    Q:
How to remove and replace the front shock absorber on Toyota Yaris? Posted by Customer
    A:
The first task for front shock absorber replacement begins with negative battery terminal cable disconnection. The technician must remove the wiper arm head cap in front before taking out the wiper arm assembly and blade on both driver and passenger sides. Hatchback owners should eliminate the hood to cowl top seal whereas sedan owners must separate the cowl side ventilator sub-assembly from both left and right sides. Next you must remove both the cowl top ventilator louver sub-assembly along with front wiper motor and link. The process for hatchback models involves removing the cowl to register duct sub-assembly and sedan models need the removal of front air shutter seal. Remove the outer cowl top panel as your next step followed by disconnection of the front wheel. Remove the nut which attaches the shock absorber to the front stabilizer link using a socket hexagon wrench 6 to hold the stud if required for assembly separation. First disassemble the front flexible hose by removing its bolt to enable ABS and non-ABS model disconnection. The front shock absorber with coil spring can be taken out by beginning by unscrewing two nuts along with two bolts that separate it from the steering knuckle while continuing to grip the bolt to stop rotation during nut loosening. First tighten the shock absorber rod with socket hexagon wrench 6 while unscrewing the nut before taking out No. 2 suspension support and retrieving the front shock absorber with coil spring out of the vehicle.
