Before starting the starter motor replacement process you must remove the engine under cover LH by unscrewing its 4 bolts and nut. The next step involves removing the engine under cover RH through bolt unscrewing of its 4 fasteners. Begin by elevating the flywheel housing side cover before pulling it out from its place. Begin by detaching the starter assembly through the process of removing its nut and starter wire and disconnecting the starter connector and unscrewing the two bolts. During starter assembly installation both bolts should be tightened to 37 Nm (377 kgf.cm, 27 ft.lbf) and the nut should reach 9.8 Nm (100 kgf.cm, 7 ft.lbf). Secure the flywheel housing side cover by inserting the claw correctly and hearing a click sound; replace the cover in case the claw shows deformations. Irrespective of the torques for the engine under cover bolt and nut of 5.0 Nm (51 kgf.cm, 44 in.lbf), install the RH cover first before moving onto the LH cover installation.

The starting point to replace the starter motor includes removing the engine under cover LH by eliminating its 4 bolts along with the nut. The next step requires removing the engine under cover RH after unboltting its 4 screws. Start by removing the flywheel housing side cover through a combination of lifting it upward while pulling it away. The starter assembly replacement requires the removal of the nut and starter wire followed by disconnecting the starter connector and finally unbolting the 2 bolts. For installation, torque the starter assembly bolts to 37 Nm (377 kgf.cm, 27 ft.lbf) and the nut to 9.8 Nm (100 kgf.cm, 7 ft.lbf). The sides of the flywheel housing require inserting the claw until you hear a clicking sound. Deformation of the claw indicates the cover needs to be replaced. The engine under cover RH requires 5.0 Nm (51 kgf.cm, 44 in.lbf) torque when installing its bolts and nut before proceeding to install the engine under cover LH with this identical torque value.

Remove the nut and starter wire, disconnect the starter connector, and then remove the 2 bolts securing the starter.

Remove the nut and starter wire, disconnect the starter connector, and take out the 2 bolts to remove the starter.

Check for continuity and repair or replace the starter assembly if there is continuity.

Remove the engine under cover LH by taking out the 4 bolts, nut, and cover, followed by the engine under cover RH by removing the 4 bolts and cover.

Apply grease to the plunger and hook of the repair service starter kit, attach the plunger hook to the drive lever, and install the plunger and return spring.

Remove the engine under cover LH by taking out the 4 bolts and nut.

Use snap ring pliers to take off the snap ring and plate washer, then align the hollow of the internal gear with the protrusion inside the shock absorber to remove it.

Remove the planetary carrier shaft and internal gear using snap ring pliers to take off the snap ring and plate washer.

Connect the starter wire and install the nut, followed by reconnecting the starter connector.

Install the starter assembly with the 2 bolts, ensuring a torque of 37 N.m (377 kgf.cm, 27 ft.lbf).

To remove the starter assembly, take off the terminal cap, remove the nut to detach terminal 30, disconnect the connector, and finally remove the two bolts to take out the starter assembly.

Use snap ring pliers to take off the snap ring and plate washer, then remove the armature assembly from the commutator end frame assembly.
