Starter

Service and repair operations on the starter motor require starting with the removal of the front engine under cover. A technician should first disconnect the starter connector and loosen the nut while disconnecting the starter wire. The starter is removed by unfastening two bolts. First install the starter followed by using the two bolts to secure it while taking note of the bolt lengths provided in the illustration. First connect the starter wire then install the nut and proceed to link up the starter connector. The installation process concludes by reattaching the front engine under cover.

Remove the starter housing, clutch assembly, and gears by taking out 2 bolts (Torque: 5.9 N.m (60 kgf.cm, 52 in.lbf)).

If the depth exceeds 0.9 mm (0.035 in.), replace it.

Loosen terminal nuts with SST 09810-38140, and remove components from terminal C and terminal 30 as specified.

The maximum wear is 0.9 mm (0.035 in.).

First, position the starter and secure it with the two bolts, ensuring the bolt lengths are 64 mm (2.72 in.) for A and 54 mm (2.13 in.) for B.

Reconnect the starter wire and install the nut, followed by connecting the starter connector.

Torque the starter housing to 5.9 N.m (60 kgf.cm, 52 in.lbf).

Reinstall the front engine under cover.

The torque specification is 5.9 N.m (60 kgf.cm, 52 in.lbf).

Remove the 2 bolts to take out the starter.

Install a new O-ring in the groove of the field frame, align it with the magnetic switch, and install it.

Install the starter and secure it with the 2 bolts, noting that each bolt length is indicated in the illustration.
