Alternator

The first task to remove the alternator is disconnecting the battery power source. The following task requires the removal of the V-bank cover. Start your alternator removal by removing the No. 1 engine under cover sub-assembly. Detach the fan and generator V belt next before starting the alternator removal. The generator assembly removal procedure begins when you sever the wire harness connections through the process of dismantling the bolt and wire harness stay and deconnecting the connector from the generator assembly followed by terminal cap removal with its attached nut and the final step of disconnecting the wire harness from terminal B. The process finishes with the removal of 2 bolts that disconnect the wire harness clamp bracket from the generator assembly before taking out the generator assembly with its 2 bolts.

First install the generator drive end frame bearing with Special Service Tool 09950-60010 using 4 screws and press tool 09951-07100. Tighten the screws to 2.6 Nm (27 kgf-cm, 23 in-lbf). Position the drive end frame on the rotor before adding the rotor and washer mounting parts. Insert the generator coil using Special Service Tool 09285-76010 and put on 4 bolts before tightening them to 5.8 Nm (59 kgf-cm, 51 in-lbf). Install 2 generator brush holders with screws at 1.8 Nm (18 kgf-cm, 16 in-lbf) force. Fasten the three terminal insulator nuts and generator rear end cover with 4.6 Nm torque strength. Secure the pulley generator onto the rotor shaft first using your hand then engage Special Service Tool 1-A with a torque wrench to tighten Special Service Tool 1-B clockwise to 39 Nm (400 kgf-cm, 29 ft-lbf) until both tools lock onto the rotor shaft. Attach Special Service Tool 1-A and B to Special Service Tool 2 which you clamp in a vice and then fasten the pulley nut. Use Special Service Tools 1-A and B to tighten the generator pulley nut gradually to 111 Nm (1132 kgf-cm, 82 ft-lbf) while turning Tool 1-A. Take off the generator from Tool 2 then turn Tool 1-B and remove Tools 1-A and 1-B. Greatly rotate the pulley to see if it moves easily.

Start by removing the generator pulley using Special Service Tool1-A and Special Service Tool1-B, holding Special Service Tool1-A with a torque wrench and tightening Special Service Tool1-B clockwise to a torque of 39 Nm.

Removing the bolt and wire harness stay, disconnecting the connector from the generator assembly, removing the terminal cap and nut, and disconnecting the wire harness from terminal B.

Remove the two bolts to separate the wire harness clamp bracket from the generator assembly.
