Service and repair of the alternator must start by disconnecting the negative battery cable because allowing at least ninety seconds prevents Air Bag and seat belt pretensioners from activating. The fan and generator V belt need removal followed by generator assembly service which includes disconnecting the generator connector and removing the terminal cap while unfastening the generator wire nut then disassembling the bolt and wire harness clamp bracket with its clamps. Finish the procedure by removing the two fastening bolts on the generator. Installation of the generator requires the wire harness of the crankshaft position sensor to enter through the timing chain cover rib's rear side but the generator installation must begin with two bolt applications: torquing bolt A to 21 N.m (215 kgf.cm, 16 ft.lbf) and bolt B to 52 N.m (530 kgf.cm, 38 ft.lbf). Use the bolt to join the wire harness clamp to its bracket while tightening it to 8.4 N.m (85 kgf.cm, 74 in.lbf). Connect the generator wire with the nut while tightening it to 9.8 N.m (100 kgf.cm, 7 ft.lbf). After that, apply the terminal cap and connect the generator connector. Install the fan together with the generator V belt and then reattach the negative battery terminal cable.

Push the 2 brushes into the holder and insert a 1.0 mm pin, then secure the holder with the 2 screws at 1.8 N.m before removing the pin.

Install the wire harness clamp and the wire harness clamp bracket with the bolt, torquing it to 8.4 N.m (85 kgf.cm, 74 in.lbf).

Remove the bolt and cord clip, then take out the 4 bolts.
