You must inspect pad lining thickness through the caliper inspection hole after removing the rear wheel before pad replacement because pads must be replaced when the lining measures less than 1.0 mm (0.039 inch). Begin by removing the brake caliper after pulling out the 2 mounting bolts then hang it in place without cutting the flexible hose connection. The removal sequence starts by removing both pads and 4 anti-squeal shims before dealing with 4 pad support plates. The support plates may be reused when they pass coloration and wear inspection. Deformation and dirt or rust contamination must also be absent. Before pad support plate and new pad installation, check disc thickness and runout values while adding disc brake grease to the inner shims on both sides except the rubbing face. Connect the caliper after removing some brake fluid from the reservoir while pushing the pistons in by hand or with a hammer handle; you should open the bleeder plug if the piston does not move easily. Subscribe to these guidelines when installing the caliper to protect the boot's integrity then use 2 mounting bolts to secure it by torquing them to 26 Nm (270 kgf-cm, 20 ft. lbs.). After reinstallation of the rear wheel follow by torquing it to 103 Nm (1,050 kgf-cm, 76 ft. lbs.) then use the pedal to depress it several times and verify that the fluid is at the max line.

After installation, depress the brake pedal several times and check that the fluid level is at the max line.
