    Q:
How to inspect and clean the radiator on Toyota Land Cruiser? Posted by Customer
    A:
Start radiator cleaning procedures by checking the radiator cap for blocked components followed by water rinsing it if needed. When utilising a radiator cap tester you must wet its relief valve alongside pressure valve using engine coolant or water before raising the tester about 30 degrees higher than horizontal during testing procedures. The radiator cap testing requires smooth pumping motions at which vacuum-valve airflow should be between 1 second or higher increments. Any failure to release air requires replacing the radiator cap. Use the tester to determine relief valve opening pressure following the first pump with one push during the first second followed by reduced speed. To pass inspection a radiator cap must have opening pressure between 93 to 123 kPa when measured at 0.95 to 1.25 kgf/cm2 (13.5 to 17.8 psi). The minimum acceptable opening pressure stands at 78 kPa or 0.8 kgf/cm2 (11.4 psi) but the cap needs replacement if the maximum reading falls beneath this threshold. The cleaning protocol includes examining the radiator along with condenser for obstructions which may include leaves and insects and dirt items that obstruct the hose connections. When cleaning blocked fins you should either use water through manual cleaning or steam but maintain sufficient distance between the steam cleaner and core to prevent damage. The use of both screwdrivers and pliers can straighten distorted fins and never apply water to electric parts. End the cleaning process by allowing compressed air to dry the fins completely.
