Power Steering Pump

Service technicians must start power steering pump maintenance by removing the drive belt after loosening both the power steering idle pulley set bolt and belt adjusting bolt. Use a spanner (24 mm) to secure the pressure port union during its removal process involving the joint bolt and gasket for the tube. Terminating the return hose operation requires the removal of its clip as well as proper attention to avoid drive belt fluid contact. The PS vane pump assembly can be removed after unbolting the 2 retaining bolts. The PS vane pump assembly installation requires two bolts which should be tightened to 39 Nm (400kgf.cm, 29 ft. lbs.). Secure the return hose by installing its clip. Install a new gasket followed by the union bolt for the pressure feed tube then attach it while ensuring the stopper contacts the PS pump body before torquing the union bolt to 47 Nm (475 kgf.cm, 34 ft. lbs.). Place the drive belt while adjusting its tension with the belt adjusting bolt until torque reaches 39 Nm (400 kgf.cm, 29 ft.lbs.). Then torque the power steering idle pulley set nut at 39 Nm (400 kgf.cm, 29 ft.lbs.) and continue with power steering bleeding.

Ensure the clearance does not exceed 0.035 mm (0.0014 inch).

Connect it and install the clip.

Install the PS vane pump assembly and temporarily tighten bolt "A" and nut "B".
