    Q:
How to service and repair the power steering pump on Toyota Celica? Posted by Customer
    A:
Service and repair of the power steering pump requires first removal of the RH and center engine under covers along with loosening the drive belt tension by turning the drive belt tensioner arm clockwise to remove the drive belt. Detach the suction hose by releasing its clip while keeping the drive belt area away from fluid spillage. The pressure feed tube requires removal by taking out its bolt and clamp using Special Service Tool: 09023-38400. Disconnect the oil pressure switch connector and detach the PS vane pump assembly using bolt and nut removal of the two pump assembly set bolts. Install the PS vane pump assembly using two pump assembly set bolts and nuts where torque value should be 37 Nm (370 kgf-cm, 27 ft. lbs.). Use proper precision to join the oil pressure switch connector without exposing it to any oil contamination. Connect the pressure feed tube clamp with its bolt before torquing it to 7.8 Nm (80 kgf-cm, 69 inch lbs.). Subsequently, use Special Service Tool: 09023-38400 to connect the pressure feed tube while applying a torque of 40 Nm (410 kgf-cm, 30 ft. lbs.) using a torque wrench with a 345 mm (11.81 inch) fulcrum. To finish the process first attach the suction hose with its clip then belt the drive belt by relaxing tension and afterward reposition RH and center engine under covers and execute power steering system bleeding.
