Power Steering Pump

The power steering pump service requires removing the air cleaner assembly through disconnecting the MAF meter connector followed by hoses and clamp removal then removing the three bolts. Secondly adjust the drive belt tension by using the drive belt tensioner to turn it in a counter-clockwise direction before removing the drive belt. The service routine for the power steering pump includes removing clips from vacuum hoses before completely disconnecting the return hose through its clip removal. The first step involves removing the union bolt along with the gasket to disconnect the pressure feed tube before proceeding to remove the two bolts, nut, stud bolt and PS vane pump assembly. Install the PS vane pump assembly first by attaching the stud bolt then tightening it to 22 Nm torque (220 kgf-cm and 16 ft. lbs.) before fastening the two bolts and nut with a torque of 44 Nm (450 kgf-cm and 33 ft. lbs.). The pressure feed tube must be attached with the stopper in contact with the PS vane pump body while adding a new gasket followed by torquing the union bolt to 46.5 Nm. Connect the return hose first using its clip and then add the vacuum hoses with their respective clips. The drive belt installation should begin with repeating the tension adjustment process before slotting back the air cleaner assembly using the air cleaner hose and three bolts followed by clamping the hoses and MAF meter connector. The power steering system requires bleeding as the last step.

Extract the vane pump shaft with the vane pump pulley and the 2 straight pins from the front housing.

Install the drive belt by tightening bolt "C" to adjust the tension, then torque bolt "A" and nut "B" to 44 Nm (450 kgf-cm, 33 ft. lbs.).

Remove the suction port union by taking out the bolt and O-ring, followed by the pressure port union, flow control valve, and spring, ensuring to remove the O-ring from the pressure port union as well.

Start by installing the PS vane pump assembly with the stud bolt, torquing it to 22 Nm (220 kgf-cm, 16 ft. lbs.).

Connect the pressure feed tube, ensuring the stopper touches the PS vane pump body, and torque the union bolt to 46.5 Nm (475 kgf-cm, 34 ft. lbs.) after installing a new gasket.
