Power Steering Pump

The process to repair power steering pump begins with removing the power steering suction port union by unfastening both the bolt and union and replacing the O-ring afterward. The operation starts with removing the flow control valve components by independently detaching the pressure port union and its O-ring before extracting both the flow control valve and compression spring. Move to the next step which includes unscrewing both bolts and nuts from the vane pump bracket rear. You should first detach the vane pump housing rear from the front by unscrewing the 4 bolts before removing the gasket with two O-rings. Move on to detach the wave washer together with the vane pump side plate rear. The sequence continues with the removal of vane pump cam ring and vane pump shaft snap ring through screwdriver usage. The 10 vane pump plates must be removed first from the rotor followed by removing the rotor itself. Pursue this step by untighting the bolt from the w/pulley shaft sub-assembly and pump bracket front. Phase the vane pump housing oil seal removal from the front side with a screwdriver while avoiding contact with the bushing of the vane pump housing front.

Loosen the 2 bolts to remove the vane pump V belt.

Measure the thickness of the vane pump plates and the clearance between the rotor groove and the plates, replacing the assembly if the measurements exceed specifications.

Coat it with power steering fluid and check its smooth fall into the hole; replace if it does not meet specifications.
