Start the reassembly of 2WD propeller shaft components by fitting in the rear universal joint spider of the propeller shaft. Apply MP grease to fresh universal joint spider elements together with its bearings but avoid excessive lubrication. Measure dimension A through the snap ring grooves before placing the universal joint spider bearing into the spider. Clamp these components in a vise to measure accuracy of dimension B. Install hole snap rings of proper thickness to achieve an equal length between dimensions A and B by using fresh snap rings of identical edge dimensions. Install the temporary universal joint spider along with two bearings into the universal joint sleeve yoke before using Special Service Tool: 09950-40011, 09951-04020 to press the bearing into place until the groove appears while testing for spider movement smoothness. After installing a hole snap ring into the groove of the universal joint sleeve yoke using needle-nose pliers the process must be repeated across the opposite side. Receivers need to slide the universal joint spider and two bearings into the universal joint yoke of the propeller shaft before employing Special Service Tools: 09950-40011, 09951-04020 to push the bearing into the yoke until the groove becomes visible to confirm spider movement. Install a hole snap ring into the universal joint yoke groove while using needle-nose pliers due to similar installation steps on the other side. The universal joint spider bearing receives examination during the testing and inspection operations.

Clamp the removed spider bearing in a vise and tap the propeller shaft's universal joint yoke with a brass bar and hammer to remove the bearing, avoiding contact with the propeller shaft tube.

Inspect for any automatic transmission fluid leaks.
