The installation of the propeller shaft assembly for Access Cab 2WD and Double Cab 2WD begins by removing Special Service Tool: from the extension housing. Install the propeller shaft inside the extension housing while keeping its matchmarks correctly aligned between propeller shaft flange and differential flange. The propeller shaft needs to be secured with four bolts, four nuts, and four washers which must be tightened to 88 Nm (899 kgf-cm, 65 ft-lbf). Installation of the center support bearing starts with provisional bolt attachment through two mounting points ensuring that the drain hole faces downwards. Adjust the center support bearing during an unwelded vehicle inspection to keep the defined timeframes and test the vertical straightness by verifying both shaft lines maintain -1.0 to 1.0 mm (-0.039 to 0.039 in.) alignments along the vehicle length. The final step includes torquing the 2 bolts to 36 Nm and checking the transmission for any signs of oil leakage.

A thorough check of the propeller shaft universal joint spider bearing for damage requires an evaluation of its wear along with diametrical play measurements while rotating the yoke under shaft tension. Replacements are needed if the maximum 0.05 millimeter (0.002 inch) bearing tolerance is exceeded. First trim matchmarks on both propeller shaft and yoke components followed by brass bar hammering on the spider bearing outer races. Use needle-nose pliers to take out the 4 snap rings located in the grooves before using Special Service Tool: 09332-25010 to push out the spider bearing from the propeller shaft by raising the indicated part (A) to an adequate height that prevents the spider bearing from contact. Crank down the spider bearing outer race in a vise before hitting the propeller shaft with a hammer while taking precaution to avoid striking the shaft directly. Use the identical process to remove the spider bearing from the other side. Position one spider bearing outer race on the spider and secure it with a vise while pushing the spider bearing out of the yoke using Special Service Tool: 09332-25010. Maintain an appropriate position of indicated part (A) to avoid bearing contact. Finally use a hammer to tap off the yoke while it remains in the vise to remove the spider.

Torque the 2 bolts to 36 Nm (369 kgf-cm, 27 ft-lbf) and inspect for transmission oil leakage.

Insert Special Service Tool: 09325-40010 into the transmission to prevent oil leakage.

Reinstall the 2 removed spider bearings onto the spider and push the bearing out of the yoke with SST 09332-25010.
