    Q:
How to remove and replace the Rack And Pinion on Toyota Tacoma? Posted by Customer
    A:
A correct power steering rack and pinion replacement for 2WD starts by disconnecting the negative battery cable along with maintaining a straight-ahead wheel position. Use a seat belt to lock the steering wheel while placing matchmarks between the steering sliding yoke and steering intermediate shaft No. 2 as well as steering intermediate shaft. After this, remove both front wheels. The procedure involves removing bolts A and B from the steering sliding yoke followed by sliding it up to disconnect from steering intermediate shaft No. 2 before pulling it down for final removal. Steering intermediate shaft No. 2 and the power steering rack and pinion require matchmarking before bolt C can be removed from steering intermediate shaft No. 2 and the rack and pinion can be separated. The first step for tie rod end sub-assembly LH separation involves removing the cotter pin and nut before using Special Service Tool: 09610-20012 to divide the tie rod end from the steering knuckle arm. The same method should be applied for the tie rod end sub-assembly on the right-hand side of the vehicle. The process for pressure feed tube assembly separation starts with bolt removal followed by disassembly of the tube support bracket before performing union nut wrench operations to disconnect the pressure feed tube and removing its attached return hose using a clip disconnection step. Make finally the power steering rack and pinion removal by taking out 2 bolts and 2 nuts including proper attention to the bolt orientation instead of the nut.
